Sir Alex Ferguson passed on Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech 12 years ago at Manchester United.

The Daily Star says he watched Cech star for French side Rennes when he was 19.

Fergie was impressed by the Czech Republic stopper but decided not to make a move for him because he was too young.

Cech, now 31, has gone on to establish himself as one of the world's best goalkeepers.
