Manchester United are hoping defender Rio Ferdinand is fir for this weekend's Manchester derby.
The England international missed Tuesday night's Champions League opener against Besiktas despite being expected to play and now manager Sir Alex Ferguson has his fingers crossed for him for Sunday's Old Trafford clash against Manchester City.
"We'll have to wait and see," Ferguson told Sky Sports when asked whether the centre-half would be fit for the derby clash.
"He felt his groin in training after the game on Saturday and it wasn't worth the risk.
"He couldn't even make the bench, so we'll just have to give him time for Sunday."
