United's nine-time Premier League title winner Ryan Giggs is appointed an OBE while veteran striker Teddy Sheringham becomes an MBE.

Football Association chairman Geoff Thompson receives an OBE in recognition of his services. He will step down from his position next year after eight years as chairman but will continue as a FIFA and UEFA vice-president.

Jim Leishman, director of football at Dunfermline Athletic, receives an MBE for his service to football - his relationship with the club stretches back to 1970.
