Manchester United legend Alex Stepney has dismissed claims Ben Foster is struggling under the spotlight of being the club's No1.
A change of keeper coaches and injury have been blamed on Foster's inconsistent form, but United's European Cup-winning goalkeeper of 1968, Stepney, refutes claims he is not mentally strong.
He told the Daily Mail: "I actually believe he is mentally strong. The fortunate thing these days is that every top club has a goalkeeping coach and it will be up to him to make sure Foster is in the right frame of mind now.
"The problem he has is that he's playing for a very successful team and replacing one of the best goalkeepers there is. It's difficult to reach that level straight away but football can be impatient and Ben has made a few mistakes."
