Manchester United legend Alex Stepney has hailed the influence of goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar on the current team.
European Cup winner Stepney wrote in The Sun: "I never thought I would ever see a better keeper at 40 than the great Italian Dino Zoff but Edwin van der Sar has been a colossus for United. What better way to sign off a career than in a Champions League final tonight.
"If I had to compare the players of 43 years ago and today, Ryan Giggs is like 'our' Bobby Charlton.
"Not in terms of where they play on the park but the fact both are in the twilights of their careers at the times of the respective finals.
"Wouldn't it be something if Giggsy grabbed a goal tonight like Bobby did in 1968?
"I also believe Wayne Rooney has that George Best ability to destroy opposition in and around the area."
