Manchester United have been given the all-clear to install floodlights at their training centre at Carrington.

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has reportedly won the battle to have the lights fitted after the Trafford Council accepted proposals to install 16 light poles around eight pitches at the AON Training Centre.

United's planning application said: "The proposed floodlighting and fencing are essential to improving the usability and function of the AON Training Centre, improving the training methods that are being adopted by the Club and ensuring that the training centre maintains its status as a world class facility."
