Paul Scholes believes Raheem Sterling has lost his confidence.
The Liverpool forward looked well below his best in England's 0-0 friendly draw with the Republic of Ireland on Sunday which led Manchester United legend Scholes to suggest he is now bereft of buoyancy.
"You have to feel for Sterling a bit, it looks like his confidence has gone a little bit. This is a lad six months ago, he could beat any defender in the world," said Scholes on ITV.
"He has great skill, great pace and he just looks like his confidence is shot to pieces."
