Manchester United are happy to cough up £12 million to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha. The Daily Mail says United have held talks with Palace over a deal and although their initial valuation of the winger is lower than the Championship club's, they have been given enough encouragement to return to the negotiating table.

Palace have nominally placed a £20m price tag on the 20-year-old but know they will not get that much for him.

As such, it is expected that the deal, if it happens, will be £12m with some significant performance-related add-ons.

United are open to loaning Zaha back to Palace until the end of the season and are the only club currently in talks to sign him.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is not interested, Arsenal are confident of tying Theo Walcott to a new contract while Tottenham have not made an offer.
