Manchester United's interest in Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko has received a boost.

The Daily Mail says United's hopes of signing Dzeko have been boosted by AC Milan cooling their interest in the Wolfsburg striker.

The much-coveted Dzeko has made no secret of his desire to join Milan, but San Siro managing director Adriano Galliani says he is looking for a different kind of attacking option.

Following the Italian giants' 2-0 defeat by Palermo at the weekend, Galliani said: "We are looking for an out and out attacker. We like Dzeko, but he doesn't have the characteristics we are looking for."
