Manchester United are weighing up a serious push for Tottenham star Gareth Bale. The Daily Star Sunday says United made a top-level inquiry for Bale, a strong contender to win both the PFA Player of the Year and the FWA Footballer of the Year awards this season.

But Tottenham's valuation has discouraged United from pursuing their understandable interest in the Wales superstar.

United have been told it would cost them £70million to sign Bale.
