Man Utd furious over claims coming from Tevez camp

Manchester United management are furious over claims coming from the Carlos Tevez camp over his departure from Old Trafford.

Tevez's camp claim the Argentina star was not given enough time to consider United's offer of a new deal and was railroaded into making a swift decision.

But United last night said that Tevez had a full SEVENTEEN days to decide whether to stay on.

They claimed they registered their £25.5million offer, plus a five-year contract, for Tevez on June 3 - giving the South American star over two weeks to make up his mind.

A United source told the People: "Carlos knows the club inside out. He knows the manager, the players, the staff. He knows the ambition of the club, and what competitions we will be in next season.

"If you know all that, how difficult can that decision be - and how much time do you need if there is no-one else involved? What they are saying just doesn't stack up because we met the required fee for the player on June 3.

"That was a week before we received Real Madrid's bid for Cristiano Ronaldo, so that deal didn't have any bearing on our offer for Carlos.

"Clearly Carlos didn't want to sign for us so you have to assume he'll be getting a better deal somewhere else."
