QPR are threatening to beat Benfica for Manchester United fullback Fabio da Silva.
Diario de Noticias says Benfica have been told the player will reject the chance to head for Portugal because he prefers to remain in the Barclays Premier League with the Londoners.
QPR, managed by ex-Red Mark Hughes, had Federico Macheda on loan last term.
