Manchester United fullback Patrice Evra insists his challenge on Chelsea's Ramires last night was correctly ruled 'play on'.
Evra could count himself fortunate to survive a late penalty appeal from Chelsea after it appeared he brought down Brazilian Ramires inside the box.
But the full-back insisted to MUTV: "I honestly wasn't expecting the referee to give a penalty.
"I tried to go for the ball and you could see I touched it. I was not scared that I had given away a penalty."
But the 29-year-old full-back was pleased with the final result and hopeful United can go on to reach the semi-finals, against either Schalke or Inter Milan, of the competition.
He said: "What is positive is that we always have good results at Old Trafford over them, much better than we do at Stamford Bridge, so we will try to win again."
