Man Utd fullback Evra: Chelsea remain our nearest rivals

Manchester United fullback Patrice Evra feels Chelsea remain their closest title rivals.

France international Evra, who was part of the United side which defeated Manchester City 3-2 in the Community Shield at Wembley yesterday, believes Chelsea have more of the qualities to make them title contenders.

"In my mind Manchester United are the best team in the country and then it is Chelsea," he said.

"City have spent a lot of money but with that comes a pressure and how they will cope with that I do not know. Manchester United's biggest threat is Manchester United.

"If we are able to master ourselves and play to our ability through the season we will win the League, that is not arrogance, it is confidence. Chelsea are a strong team with good experienced players, they are our closest rivals. I will not say who the next best team are but the fate of the Premier League is in our own hands.

"We are a young team who are never afraid, that is why we were able to come from 2-0 down and beat City.

"This is the mentality at this club and it is one which our opponents fear and which makes us strong."
