Manchester United are fighting to trump Tottenham to the signing of Fulham wing-back Ryan Sessegnon.
The Times says United are trying to steal a march on Tottenham by convincing him to move to Old Trafford if he quits Fulham at the end of the season.
Jose Mourinho wants another full-back added to the ranks with Ashley Young the first choice on the left hand side of defence.
However, the England international is still considered more of a winger, while No2 left-back Luke Shaw has had many high-profile bust-ups with Mourinho and could leave at the end of the season.
Tottenham are still the preferred choice of Sessegnon — who won Championship Player of the Year, Young Player of the Season, Apprentice of the Year, and was named in the Team of the Season and EFL Club Developed XI.
