Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was delighted with the performance of recruit Antonio Valencia in Wednesday night's pre-season win over Spanish outfit Valencia. The £18million signing was brilliant in the Red Devils 2-0 win at Old Trafford, supplying goals for Wayne Rooney and Tom Cleverly, prompting praise from Ferguson.

"Antonio's performance was the most exciting part of the night for me," he said.

"He has power and speed. Coming to our club, he has taken up the challenge and played with a lot of purpose."
