Man Utd face foreign competition to keep hold of Carrick

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has emerged as a top target for MLS.

The People says Carrick is high on their shopping list, with former United star David Beckham to work as an intermediary in a bid to tempt him to the US.

An MLS source said: "With the wages, lifestyle, and anonymity the world's top soccer players have playing in the MLS, it makes it an ideal destination for them to finish their careers." Carrick could expect to earn between £3million and £4m a year. He is also being offered new terms by United in the coming weeks.
