Manchester United are to play a glamour friendly at Aberdeen this summer.

United's visit north of the border marks the 25th anniversary of the Dons winning the European Cup Winners' Cup - under manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Sir Alex will take a Reds team to Pittodrie for a friendly fixture scheduled to take place on Saturday 12 July.

Announcing the anniversary match, Tom Smith, chairman of the Gothenburg Greats Testimonial Committee, said: "The Testimonial Committee are extremely grateful to the directors of Manchester United and to Aberdeen Football Club for their kind support and for their co-operation.

"It is a tremendous gesture from Manchester United which will benefit both the Gothenburg Greats and Aberdeen."
