Man Utd extend trial for Man City reject Sam Grimshaw

Non-League sensation Sam Grimshaw is continuing his trials with Manchester United.

The Sunday Mirror says he 21-year-old, who can play as a left-back or left-winger, was drafted in from North West Counties League side Glossop North End at the start of the month for a one-week audition at Carrington.

It is an opportunity the callow prospect appears to have grasp and has impressed Under-21 boss Warren Joyce with his performances in strength and speed tests, clocking less than 11 seconds in the 100 metres.

Joyce has now decided to prolong the trial until the end of the season and will invite the speedster back for pre-season training to further run the rule over him.

Grimshaw spent nine years at Manchester City during his youth.
