Man Utd encouraged in pursuit of Atletico Madrid keeper De Gea

Manchester United are ready to test Atletico Madrid's resolve with a bid for goalkeeper David de Gea.

The Daily Mail says Sir Alex Ferguson expects Edwin van der Sar to retire at the end of the season - and the Manchester United boss has confirmed that Anders Lindegaard is unlikely to be the only goalkeeper joining the club.

Atletico would demand more than £15million for De Gea - who has also been linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona - but the club have the impressive Sergio Asenjo in place to take over when the bids become too tempting.

The 20-year-old only made his breakthrough at Atletico a year ago, but he has impressed to such an extent that he is seen as Spain's natural long-term successor to Real Madrid's outstanding Iker Casillas.

Cdkred, balague is a joke.he said fabregas was certain to join barca.shutup.

i think he will be a good replacement for vandersar for the long term but not an immediate replacement. but i think manutd shouild keep trying to sign sebastien schwensteiger and llorente.

He is not worth all that money. I watched him closely yesterday and he was not that commanding in his area. He looked short of confidence required of a top keeper. He conceeded two cheap goals but the 3rd goal could have beat any keeper. ( a wonder strike) Mwhile, Ath. Bilbao's box-to-box midfielder, Javi Hernadez looks to me as a just what Manutd need in the middle of the pack. He has such presence and control and will easily fill in for Scholesy. SAF sign him up!!!!!
