Manchester United have emerged as a possible bidder for Chelsea discard Michael Ballack. The 33-year old midfielder was not offered a new contract by the champions and is now a free agent with the Red Devils showing plenty of interest.

Reports suggest that Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to get the injured Germany star on a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.

Ballack is also attracting interest from United's Premier League rivals Tottenham and Spanish giants Real Madrid.
