Manchester United chiefs remain keen on tempting Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.
The Sun says new United boss Jose Mourinho and his fellow Portuguese have never been the best of friends and had a bitter fall-out during their time at the Bernabeu.
Old Trafford chiefs have not given up hope of tempting him back to England, where Ronaldo still owns a house in Cheshire.
The Madrid forward was quick to congratulate the Special One on his appointment and believes he will fire United back to the top.
He said: “I think it's good. If it's something United wanted, I think it's good.
“I hope United get back to being what they were because it's an impressive club but in the last years they lacked an identity a bit.
“And it hurts me seeing United like that because it's a club I carry in my heart. I wish Mourinho can restore them back to the top.
“One of my great qualities is to not hold grudges at anyone regardless of the damage they may have done to me."
