Man Utd deliver upbeat Tevez injury report

Manchester United have confirmed Carlos Tevez only suffered heavy bruising to his ankle in the New Year's Day win over Birmingham City.

Tevez was substituted with 20 minutes left of the game, having earlier scored the only goal at Old Trafford.

He was carried down the touchline at the final whistle, with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson waiting on a scan to determine the extent of the damage.

Tests have shown there are no broken bones, although the Argentine striker is still likely to miss Saturday's FA Cup tie with Aston Villa.

A club spokesperson told United's official website: "Nothing is broken, Carlos Tevez has just got a badly bruised right ankle."
