Manchester United are delaying new contract talks with Wayne Rooney until after the World Cup.
The Daily Mail says Rooney has two years left on his Old Trafford deal but is keen to discuss a £120,000-a-week extension.
However, United chief executive David Gill has indicated privately the 24-year-old will have to wait until he returns from South Africa with England.
Even though Real Madrid have already declared a firm interest in Rooney, United are so sure he will not have his head turned that they have told his representatives to wait until late July for talks.
