Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has been hit with a major injury blow.
The Daily Mail says Smalling has suffered a Euro 2012 scare after learning his groin injury is worse than first thought.
Smalling was believed to be fine despite limping through the closing stages of United's 2-0 win over Swansea on Sunday, but will now miss United's final Barclays Premier League game at Sunderland.
The way his injury responds to treatment over the next two or three days will determine whether new England manager Roy Hodgson has cause to worry about the 22-year-old's fitness.
