Man Utd defender Smalling says gaffer hasn't retired hairdryer

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling admits manager Sir Alex Ferguson will turn on the hairdryer at his players if needed.

Speaking to Sport magazine, Smalling lifted the lid on life with his club, where he had a surprise about the calm nature of his manager.

"It's a bit of a myth that he rants and raves, and I think there are a lot of players who've worked with him who would give that statement," said Smalling.

"He's very much a family man and he looks after his players. If you have faith in him and what he's teaching you, he'll put faith in you."
