Man Utd defender Smalling backs Hodgson's faith in England youngsters

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has backed Roy Hodgson to continue as England manager beyond the Euros and also praised the faith shown by him in young players.

"Ever since I have worked with Roy, he has shown faith in all the players, especially the younger players,'' said the defender, who looks set to start in England's friendly against Italy in Turin on Tuesday.

''We have all enjoyed training with him and obviously he is focusing on until next summer. I would be very happy to work with him for a longer period.''

The Hodgson-Smalling relationship goes back to 2008 when the player was signed to Fulham from non-league Maidstone United after a successful trial.
