Man Utd defender Shaw unlikely to make sensational FA Cup return

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw is unlikely to be fit in time to feature in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace later this month, according to reports from the Manchester Evening News.

Following a quicker than anticipated recovery from his horrific double leg break, 20-year-old Shaw was believed to be in contention to make a sensational return to the pitch for United's FA Cup decider against Palace at Wembley on May 21.

However, it can now be revealed that Shaw is unlikely to regain full match fitness ahead of the showpiece event at Wembley and the defender is instead set to see out the campaign training with the United Under-21 squad.

Louis van Gaal was hopeful but realistic when recently addressing Shaw's chances: "He can, maybe, but it shall be difficult because he has to play first a lot of matches in the second team.

"We have to wait and see because you cannot say anything. It's going very well with him."
