Man Utd defender Shaw: Bailly absence is 'massive'

Luke Shaw has admitted that the loss of Eric Bailly is a huge blow for Manchester United.

United suffered an extremely disappointing 4-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend and to make matters worse, key defender Bailly picked up a knee injury which is set to rule him out for at least two months.

Shaw has gone on to comment on the injury to Bailly and has admitted that the loss of the imposing central defender could prove to be a huge one for United but only if those waiting in the wings do not step up and fill the void.

Asked how much it effects Jose Mourinho's team, Shaw said: "Massively.

"He has played in all of the games and has been one of our best players each game. I don't think he's had an off day because he's still so young and, you know, the confidence and calmness he brings to our defence when he gets the ball, sometimes he knows when to clear it but he likes to play from the back.

"That's what was good for us because we like to start from the back and go through the midfield and attack.

"Of course, he's going to be a very big miss but I think today people staked their claim to play, and obviously with Chrissy (Christmas) as well. He'll be back on Saturday I am sure and he is a very good option as well."
