Man Utd defender Lindelof: Sweden players want Ibrahimovic at World Cup

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof says the Sweden players would love to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their World Cup squad.

The clamour has started in Sweden for United striker Ibrahimovic, 36, to come out of international retirement.

He ended his career with his country after last year's European Championships in France. But his United team-mate and fellow Swede Lindelof said: “Of course the players would be happy to see him back. It's Zlatan – it's always very important for the team.

“If he feels happy and if he feels good, he has to speak to the coach of the national team.

“But it's a difficult question for me to answer – it's up to him.

“What I would say is that he's the best player we have ever had in Sweden. He's fantastic and a good leader off the pitch, too.

“If he wants to play, they have to speak with him and the coach, Janne Andersson.

“Zlatan is Zlatan and I'm always happy to have him.

“I have him at Manchester United and it's always nice to have a fellow Swede in the team."
