Man Utd defender Jones open about midfield role

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has no problem being played in midfield by manager David Moyes.

Sir Alex Ferguson preferred to utilise him in front of the defence and none of his seven England caps have come in his preferred role of centre-back.

But Jones is determined to establish himself as one of England's finest defenders - one day.

He said: "I have said from day one that I see myself as a centre-back

"But if I am asked to play in midfield or at right-back, I am happy to do so. As long as I am in the team, it doesn't matter whether I am in goal.

"Of course, towards the middle and end of my career I will want to start cementing a place in a certain position, but at the moment I am happy."
