Man Utd defender Ferdinand refuses to accept England career over

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is determined for his England career not to be over.

The Mirror says Ferdinand will fight to win back his England shirt despite his latest snub by Fabio Capello.

The Manchester United defender, Capello's official captain only eight months ago, was left out of the squad to face Spain and Sweden even though the Italian selected John Terry, accused of racially abusing Ferdinand's brother Anton two weeks ago. But although Ferdinand has not played for England since June, the defender - who turns 33 today - remains determined to go to Euro 2012.

Capello outraged Ferdinand in March when he took the armband away from him and gave it back to Terry without discussing it face to face.

This time, however, the Italian did travel to Manchester to talk to Ferdinand. Leaving Ferdinand out avoids the problem of being asked to train with Terry or even play alongside him.
