Manchester United's England captain Rio Ferdinand hopes Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll sees action tonight against France.
Carroll has been in fine form for Newcastle in recent weeks, scoring a headed winner at Arsenal earlier this month.
And England captain Ferdinand said: "I think he's done fantastic. He's a real talent - someone who's going to make it awkward for opponents to play against.
"Newcastle have got a fantastic player on their hands."
Ferdinand is delighted to see new blood being injected into the England squad, saying: "There's nothing better than seeing a young lad get his first cap. I look back to when I made my debut and it's one of the proudest moments of your life - all your family are there.
"I hope they go out and enjoy it and play the way they have for their clubs."
