Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has hit out at pundits who have been critical of the standard of the Premier League leaders. Ferdinand has slammed the critics who say Manchester United are leaders of a weak league and inferior to Old Trafford teams from the past.
Ferdinand said: "I'm not saying this is the greatest United side. You can't compare this side to ones from the past.
"They all had their own attributes and qualities. I think people look at this team and think we are not as good as other teams.
"Some of what is written is total rubbish. We are hard to beat and we have players not just in the team but players who can come off the bench and make a real difference.
"Teams are defined by the success they have so if we win something it's not by accident or by good luck it's because we deserve it."
