Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is impressed by what he's seen from Paul Scholes - the coach.
He thinks Scholes, 36, only quit as he wasn't guaranteed starts any more after almost two decades as the first name on the team sheet.
"Scholesy was one of the most enjoyable players I have ever had the pleasure of playing with on a football pitch," Ferdinand told the Daily Star Sunday.
"Just to play behind someone like that makes the game more exciting.
"When he told me he was going to retire, I told him he could easily still play on for two or three years.
"But he wants to be involved in every game. You have to appreciate that and understand that. That is why he's been so consistent.
"His desire was always to be the best and to take part in the biggest and best games of the season. And because he's not getting that he's called time on his career."
