Manchester United defender Jonny Evans is set to leave in January.
The Sun says he will be sent out on loan in a bid to rebuild his shattered confidence.
Alex Ferguson gave Evans, 22, the 'hairdryer' treatment after Manchester United's 4-0 Carling Cup humiliation at West Ham.
United have shipped 15 goals in the nine league games the defender has played this season.
Manager Ferguson is concerned by his loss of form and even Evans admits his displays have not been up to scratch this term.
He said: "This is probably the biggest challenge I have had.
"It is the first time I have been taken out of the team because of performances."
