Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is grateful to former manager Louis van Gaal for his first team chance.
Now on-loan at Scunthorpe United, Borthwick-Jackson was given his United debut by Van Gaal at Old Trafford.
He told Sport360: "He showed a lot of confidence in me. He threw me to the lions in must-win matches, and for example in a game in the Champions League against VfL Wolfsburg.
"I no longer speak to him, but he made sure that staff members sat down with you one-on-one after the match.
"They told you what you had done right and what could be better. He is very proactive in this and that has helped me enormously."
