Manchester United decided to sack David Moyes yesterday to leave them free to find his replacement.
The Daily Star says United decided to axe Moyes this week to avoid the threat of having to betray him by approaching alternative targets while he was still clinging to his job.
United chief Ed Woodward and his colleagues are now free to pursue whoever they want and, despite senior sources admitting the talent pool is small, will make contact with the people in question within the next two weeks.
