Manchester United have cut 50 staff from their preseason US tour.

The Sun says United have cut the staff from their pre-season tour party saving £500,000.

The club had initially planned to take 150 staff with the squad for the five-game pre-season trip.

But as early as last week 50 were informed they were not going including commercial and in-house media staff.

There are also less of the usual contingent of former players on the trip to do 'legends' meet and greets with organisers and sponsors.

The cuts reflect the lack of first-team stars on the tour due to their involvement in the World Cup.
