Manchester United hope to announce Wayne Rooney's new contract today. The Mirror says official confirmation of Rooney's new £300,000-a-week contract has been held up while the finer details of the agreement - in particular image rights - are still discussed.
But an outline agreement over Rooney's salary and the length of the deal are already in place and United are hopeful they will be able to confirm it to their supporters ahead of Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace.
United chief executive Ed Woodward went away on holiday last week, having negotiated the new agreement with Rooney's representatives, and the issue over image rights is not thought to be enough to put the entire deal in jeopardy.
