Manchester United are considering buying back Jonny Evans from West Brom.
The Sun says Evans, 30, was sold to West Brom by Louis van Gaal in 2015 for £6m.
But his stock rose in the first two of his three seasons at Albion.
Leicester had a £10m bid turned down last August and Manchester City had an £18m offer rejected shortly after.
There was then interest from Arsenal in the New Year window, with a proposed offer of £10m plus full-back Mathieu Debuchy.
And despite having the second-best defensive record in the league behind City, Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho is still not happy with his back line and thinks experienced Evans would be a good addition.
His fee has now come down as he had a release clause inserted in his Baggies contract, allowing him to go for £3m if they get relegated.
