Man Utd consider Mata swap for Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler

Manchester United are tracking Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler.

Don Balon says Valencia's young playmaker may replace Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January at Old Trafford.

United manager Jose Mourinho believes Soler has all the credentials to succeed in the Premier League due to his ability to play as a box-to-box midfielder and is seen as similar to Paul Pogba.

A deal could be closed by the end of January, with one potential option is to allow Soler to return to Valencia on loan until the end of the campaign, as Mourinho wants a transfer wrapped up soon.

Valencia are reluctant to sell and will demand United pay his release clause of £71m, with his contract running until 2021.

The Red Devils, though, could look to include players in a deal for Soler and take advantage of Valencia's interest in re-signing Juan Mata.
