Man Utd consider Benfica's Matic as Scholes successor

Manchester United haven't wrote off moving for Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic - despite his massive buyout clause. They have already been courting PSV midfielder Kevin Strootman and they could step up their interest in him when the transfer window re-opens.

And with the future of Paul Scholes up in the air, Matic could provide them with the inventiveness and guile they need.

According to A Bola, Matic has emerged as United's top transfer target.

However, the Serbian carries a steep transfer fee and has a release clause worth £38m.
