Man Utd confirm new keeper signing imminent

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson hopes the signing of goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard will go through within the next three weeks. The 26-year-old Danish shot-stopper has been identified as a long-term successor to current No.1 Edwin van der Sar and United goalkeeping coach Eric Steele has watched him on a number of occasions.

Any move to Old Trafford from Norwegian outfit Aalesund is expected to cost around £3.5million, with both clubs having provisionally agreed a deal.

Ferguson has stated that he wants to have things wrapped up within the next two to three weeks, and Sky Sports News revealed last week that Lindegaard had already undergone a medical with the Red Devils.

However, despite Aalesund declaring that a deal was done, Ferguson insists that it has not yet been completed.

"It is not completed at the moment but there has not been a hiccup either," he said.

"It will probably happen in the next two or three weeks, but the announcement was a bit premature."
