Manchester United are in the hunt for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. It is understood United bosses have made contact with Schneiderlin's representatives to let their interest be known and are waiting with an opening bid of around £20m.

Schneiderlin, 25, is also a target of Arsenal and Tottenham but has told friends that he wants a move to United.

He has been offered a new £60,000-a-week deal at the Saints but has made up his mind to leave them this summer.

A senior United figure told the Daily Star: "Yes, we are interested in Morgan but no deal is imminent."
