Man Utd chiefs Mourinho and Woodward at odds over 'gold dust' transfer policy

Manchester United powerbrokers Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward have been at odds over their approach to this summer's transfer window.

The Independent reports Woodward wanted to hunt a big-name signing, Mourinho had other plans for his Manchester United team.

Kylian Mbappe and Neymar have both been linked with moves away from PSG, though both players have moved to quash any talk of a Parc des Princes exit.

Gareth Bale, meanwhile, was seen as an attainable target in the wake of comments made after the Champions League final.

The Real Madrid star hinted at a new challenge away from the Bernabeu but, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane no longer at the club, a deal is unlikely.

Mourinho, though, turned down the United chief because of how he feels his side should play.

He reportedly thinks a hard-working player like Willian, of Chelsea, would suit the club more than a flamboyant star.
