Man Utd chief Woodman admits plans drawn up for Ferguson replacement

Manchester United are preparing for the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. Fergie will be 71 on New Year's Eve and vice-chairman Ed Woodward confirmed the club are preparing for the day when the legendary Scot finally hangs up his hairdryer.

But their plans are locked away inside Old Trafford.

Woodward said: "We have a view as to what type of manager we want and how and when we'll go about it.

"But it's in the drawer and long may it stay in the drawer."
