Manchester United chief David Gill is set to represent the FA at UEFA.
The Daily Mail says Gill is already being talked about as the FA board's most likely candidate for the UEFA executive committee in next year's election.
Former FA chairman Geoff Thompson has been England's representative for 12 years. But although the 66-year-old vice-president would be eligible for another term and his strong support base across Europe - in polar contrast to Wembley - would ensure his UEFA re-election, there is a mood for change within the FA.
