Manchester United have joined the interest in Crewe Alexandra whizkid Nick Powell.
The Daily Star Sunday says United are battling with Chelsea for Powell.
Roberto Di Matteo's side are close to sealing a deal for the striker, 18.
But Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson sent scouts to watch Powell last week and still thinks he can land his man.
The Crewe-born ace scored in the 1-1 draw at Torquay last Saturday and a favourable report will have gone back to United.
And now Fergie wants to make a summer move for Powell, at a cost of around £2million.
