Man Utd captain Neville: Nani fantastic for crucial goal

Manchester United captain Gary Neville was delighted for his teammates after their win over Tottenham.

Neville missed the game and said in his column for the Sunday Times of Malta: "We knew at half-time we had to up the tempo, and we did that at times. We got the breakthrough goal after a great bit of skill from Dimitar Berbatov led to Patrice Evra being fouled by Benoît Assou-Ekotto inside the penalty area. After Ryan Giggs scored the penalty we thought we could take the game, but they got a goal back quickly from a set-piece, which was disappointing because we have been good at defending set-pieces this season.

"Then it became really tense in the stadium because we knew the final 10 minutes was huge in terms of keeping our title hopes alive. I think if we had drawn yesterday it would have given Chelsea a huge boost for their game against Stoke city today.

"We can't afford to make any mistakes as the chasing team so Nani's goal was really important. For him to show such composure one-on-one at such a crucial stage was fantastic. Then Giggs's second penalty clinched a vital win for us.

"Losing Wayne Rooney before the match was a big blow and people are quick to point out that we do miss him when he's not there, but yesterday Berbatov played very well. We will need all our players to be match winners over the next two games. Chelsea may win all their remaining games, but the most disappointing thing would be if they make a mistake and we don't capitalise."
